Ibuku lemah malam ini. Terasa sungguh berat otot-otot untuk bangun dan membuat kerja.
Diusap-usapnya perut yang sudah sarat. Di hatinya penuh dengan kesyukuran terhadap Ilahi. Tidak lama lagi cahaya matanya akan lahir. Biarlah perit mahupun pedih, asalkan bayinya sihat dan selamat dilahirkan. Ibuku yakin tiada yang lebih baik berbanding kebahagian anak bongsunya yang satu ini.
Posisi baringnya dibetulkan.Lenguh. Sungguh mudah dan terlalu cepat. Terkenang pula dia akan anak-anaknya yang lain. Meriahlah hujung minggu ini nanti. Semuanya akan pulang untuk menyambut adik baru. Mesti semuanya tidak sabar-sabar menanti.

On the 21st of December, 4 of us had decided to go shopping for our little new baby. We had only an hour to buy the most important things that a new baby needed. Mak just tagged along.

As a whole, we were liked "freaky". We were over excited! Everything seemed nice, lovely and CUTE. We bought the natural colours (such as white, green) for the clothes, towels, blanket, bottles and much more. I felt as though I wanted to buy the whole baby section. Everything was so wonderful.

I never have thought that I would be experiencing shopping for a new baby at the age of 18!

That's the hypothesis of life.

Wishing to be juvenile again would be just like wishing for a dead to be alive again. When I was young, I always thought that being an adult was better. No one to tell you what to do, no one to order you around especially no one to decide things for you. However, as early as young adult, i realised that, that was not the case.
It is true that no one going to tell you what to do, no one to order you around, no one to decide for you, but that are what made this adulthood difficult. We have to make our own decisions on our own risks. Whenever a wrong decision was made, we have no one else to blame but ourselves.
Living freely on my own will not make things easier or better just like I have thought before. Adulthood is in fact an eerie world, just one wrong turn, it could led you to the worst.

One rainy day on the car, mother and I was having a pointless conversation. The rain was just misty and it really reminded us of the snow. The sun was up and the day was bright but it rains. It was just like snowing back then in Glasgow. Mother the one who noticed it first and she said that she really missed the snow. She said, "It's going to be winter soon, isn't it?". For some reason, my tears rolled down and I was late to cover it. Mother did not take any notice of it though but I wondered why the teary eyes? Am I really missing it too?

It seemed just yesterday when we were first met; when we were all just arrived in Akasia/Cemara College in Section 18 of Shah Alam. Before we know it, the first semester had ended. Each and everyone of us has our own different personalities and interests. We tried to respect each other, care for each other feelings and help each other out.
To be honest, I had actually the most difficulties in putting myself there. This was the first time in my entire life living with other people than my family. I had to deal with my inner self and tried to accept everything. It was not easy. Really, it was not.
However, near the end of the semester, I felt the joy and the pleasure of living with these three housemates of mine; Aisyah (my roommate), Amalina and Sulaili. I need to thank them for keeping up with me and taking care of me. I must say, I am not independent at all; "Manja" my friend always said.

Well, this is my first time going to a camp. Yes, after the whole 18 years living in this world; this was my first time participating in a camp. First time too going inside the great forest and jungle tracking! I must say that, not bad for the first time experience. However, I do not think that I want to go camping again for the second time. This is the first and the last!

Camping Day 1 - 16/11/2011

As early as 7.30am all the juniors were already waiting by the gate of Cemara College with all their rucksacks. I was one of them. The journey to FRIM, Kepong did not start till at 8.30am. We went there by INTEC's bus and it took only for about 45 minutes from Shah Alam to Kepong.

When we finally arrived at FRIM, we were given a short briefing by the ranger of the place. Then, that I knew more about that place. FRIM actually stand for Forest Research Institute Malaysia. It is not a real forest though, they made it all to look like a forest. To me as a person that never been into a forest before, it seemed real enough. FRIM, unlike Taman Negara is used especially for the researches all over the world.
We were placed at a camping site called 'Kem Perah'. The 'Perah' name came from a tree at the centre of the camping site that changes colour from yellow to red then green. The 'Perah' tree sometimes are also known as the traffic light tree.

After the short briefing, we had to built our own tent. You might want to laugh, but this was my first time as well building my own tent. With the help of my friends and our president, we managed to build it quite quickly. The tent area was already provided so, it was not very difficult to bury the metal thing deep inside the earth.

There are no pictures of me going into the forest. I actually had leech on my body. Scary and disgusting! Gladly, I had only once while my friend, had twice on her body.
That night, we had War Game which start at 11pm. For this game, I was ordered by my group leader to hide in Men's bathroom. Never in my life I had thought of entering Men's bathroom. I have to admit that, the men's bathroom was better than women's at that camping site.
After wetting ourselves during the War Game, we had a quiet moment choosing for the next HICOM which stand for High Committee for the Facilitator Club.
At nearly 2am in the morning, we were allowed to sleep. With the wet clothes on, I went to sleep anyway. It was dead cold that night. I was the last to sleep. It might be because it was my first time sleeping in a tent.

Camping Day 2 - 17/11/2011

The final activity of all was the jungle tracking. Only Allah had made me able to go through till the end. It was deadly tiring!
I also had to walk on a 'Canopy Walkway'. It was 1000 feet above the sea level. I am always afraid of height! When I was on the London Eye, I did not even stand close to the glass nor have any interest to look outside for the wonderful view of London. When I was on top of the Eiffel Tower, I was never near the gate but stood well still for my pictures to be taken. It was not much different now. I forced myself to walk anyway and just thinking that my life is in Allah's hand anyway. He was the only one that can protect me from anything. Feeling quite proud of myself, I made it through the 120m of the canopy walk.

The ancient Greek scientists observed the dazzling stars in the sky and created basic astronomy. They named each constellation after the characteristics of Greek gods. They used the 12 signs that appear in different periods in a year cycle to represent 12 human personalities. The 12 signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Each sign projects the character and personality of one specific Greek god. These 12 astrological signs can be classified into the four elements in this world, which are wind, earth, fire and water.

The three signs in the first category are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. The characteristics of this element are just like the name of the element, wind. The people in this category are natural-born debaters. Their skills allow them to have more advantages than others in their careers and enable them to overcome difficulties easily. A lot of people in this element are often important people in big companies. They are remarkable people compared to other groups. People in this category do not like steady jobs; they like work with challenges and prefer exciting jobs. Nobody knows what is going on inside their heads, just as you cannot catch the wind.

On Friday 09/09/2011, Nek had kindly picked me up from my house at Akasia, Shah Alam right after she knew that I had sprained my ankle. I had spent the most wonderful time at Tok Tam's house and got better straight away then, fit enough to go to INTEC on Monday. What suprised me most is that, Nek climbed the stairs just to look at my house. I respect Nek the most! Love you so much, Nek!

I read an interesting article in my English textbook, Weaving It Together 4. It is about the differences between men & women. Guess what, it is worth a post in this blog. So here it goes.

Males & Females: What’s the Difference?

Is it true that men don’t ask for directions? Do women talk more than men? Are men more jealous than women? Who likes the colour red? Is there more to the difference between males and females than meets the eye? The answers are yes, no, yes, males, and a resounding yes! Of course, these are generalizations. They don’t apply to all men or all women. However, after decades of study, scientists and researchers have concluded that there are important differences in the way males and females think, speak, and act; in their values and habits; in what makes them laugh and what makes them cry. And they know that these differences are true across countries , cultures, ages, and other factors.

If you think that boys and girls are different from birth, you’re right. From the time they’re born, boys and girls differ in the way they function and the way their brain works. Boy babies are more interested in objects then in people. Girl babies respond to the human voice more than boys do. At play, little girls naturally practice carrying infants. On the other hand, little boys play more actively and aggressively. Researchers agreed a long time ago that girls have better language abilities than boys. But now they know that it’s all in their heads – that is, their brains. Both areas of the brain that deal with language work harder in girls than in boys. Also, girls use different parts of the brain when performing language tasks. Boys, however, are better at solving technical problems and have better math skills.

Recently, scientists and researchers have come up with a number of interesting differences between males and females. These differences are in ways as simple as colour preferences and as complicated as memory. If you’re a female who likes pink or a make who likes yellow, you won’t be surprised to hear that it comes naturally. As it turns out, men prefer bright-coloured things like yellow and red, whereas women prefer soft colours like pink and aqua. But if you’ve always thought that women talk more than men, you’re wrong. Most men probably wouldn’t agree with this statement. But after decades of study, research has shown that men talk more than women overall. And while a woman talks to create a relationship with the listener, men on the other hand try to influence the listener. Men, it seems, are always trying to make their point! And they probably think they’re right, too, because men are more self-assured, more self-centred, and more satisfied with their performance than women. Women are more critical of themselves and less self-assured. But all that self-doubt doesn’t seem to make them sick. While women worry more about their health, men actually get sick twice as often. As to who is more forgiving, studies show that men are more vengeful and less forgiving than women. That’s in spite of the fact that a woman is more likely to remember the wrongdoing! Whereas women are better at remembering faces and events , men can remember more symbolic and spatial things, such as how to find their way back from a place they’ve driven to. It’s amusing to think about how some of these studies have proven what men and women have known all along. While men are better at finding their way or fixing a car, women are better at fixing friendships.

At first, researchers thought that language differences would be less or even disappear in an Internet environment. After all, there’s no physical interaction. Writers don’t hear or see one another. So the playing field is quite equal. But as it turned out, they discovered that women and men have very different online ways of communicating. And these ways reflect exactly how they use language in their lives.

The language of males is adversial. They use put-downs, like “Get a life,” or “You must be dreaming!” or “Have you lost it?” They make strong statements, too : “It’s a fact that…,” or “Here’s what I know.” They send more emails than women and they’re longer. Men also use language that is self-promoting, such as, “I happen to be an expert on this subject.” And they often use sarcasm, like “Yeah, right,” or “Sure, and the moon’s made of cheese.”

On the other hand, females generally use language that is supportive, like “I’m sure you can do it.” They express gratitude, such as, “Thanks for all your much-appreciated help,” or “Thanks so much for the great advice.” Not only do women apologize more, such as, “I’m sorry I haven’t been in touch,” or “I apologise if I sounded harsh,” but they also express doubt and make self-conscious statements like: “I’m not sure if I’m right about this, but…” Women ask more questions. And when they offer an idea or opinion, it’s usually in the form of suggestion, such as, “I think it might help you if…,” or “I suggest you…”

After extensive study, researchers have concluded that all in all, men use language that is aggressive, competitive, and dominating, whereas women offer support and friendship. Furthermore, they believe that the different ways in which men and women use language in e-mails is a result of their different goals. Men see Internet technology as a way to influence others and extend their authority and respect. On the other hand, women use it to strengthen existing friendships and make new ones.

Men and women have always known they are different. Men have thought long and hard about that, just as women have. It’s what brings them together – and also gives them headaches! Knowing that boys and girls learn and communicate differently helps educators to teach more effectively. Studying how men and women respond to drugs, pain, and infections can help doctors treat them better. And, of course, knowing how male and female brains differ can help everyone to understand each other better.

Out of The Book

There are more to learn when we are out of the book. That is what I thought and believe for now. My SPM years were full of study (not very extreme) and my life was lacking of many things. I realised that when I went to Islah. To become a great human being both to your God and to other people, a skill cannot be learn just by using textbooks. There are other exciting knowledgeable activities out there that waiting for participants. In life, we do not just depend on books to grow. Past wide experiences, deep understanding of the surrounding and the will to try something new will mature us even more.
This life is worth worth more than just to study 24/7, neglecting all other things. We need to get to know people, try to socialise and be friendly. In whatever we do, when it is intentionally dedicating to Allah, then, may Allah bless us all. This is not saying that you do not have to study at all. We do have to study as much as we can but do spend time on other people as well. You never know when is your last day in this world, and just by studying (all the time) is not making your life a worthy life.
Live your short life to the fullest and always leave NO regrets! You will never have a second chance in life. Be kind to other people. Be generous, humble and helpful to others. It is difficult to fight with your selfish self but think that Allah is with you then you will be fine. A muallimah in Islah said to me before I left, "Wherever you go, seek for the reminder because human tend to forget." May Allah bless us in everything we do.

We moved house to another block! It was a sudden notice and we only had two days to move ourselves to the new block which were on Wednesday and Thursday. Yeah, it was in the middle of the week plus the tons of works to do. It was dead tiring but we made it so quickly (compare to others).
This new house would be permanent for two years till I finish my A-level. Whats different about the new house is that all (almost) the furniture are pink in colour. (Suppose they thought the only colour for girls is pink out of other colour)

It has been a month or so since I entered myself to an International Education College, UITM Shah Alam. Many things I have learned since the first day, during orientation, the start of class and much more. So, here are some of the latest activities I joined and my latest experiences.

INTEC FOOD FESTIVAL - 27/07/2011
There are Arabic Food organised by Middle East Programme (MEP) students, The Russians, The Koreans, The French, The Japaneses and much more. It was great and it felt very 'international'.

Overall winner for this year IMPRO is the A-Level ( Medicine, German & UK). However, American Degree Foundation Programme (ADFP) won the marching. Regardless all that, we totally had fun in watching all the different performances from all the different programmes.

The First Sahur - 01/08/2011
I woke up early because it is the first day. Amalina had bought fried chicken from Al-Raffi Bistro for our sahur and Aisyah had cooked rice just before she went to sleep. I went straight to check on the rice and it was still warm but I could not see the packet of fried chicken anywhere. I wondered if Laili had put it somewhere else. After waking up Laili, I asked her where is the chicken and she found the chicken on the floor of our small kitchen. It was torned all over and no doubt that a cat had eaten some of it. We noticed that the window was opened and with us living on the second floor it was not impossible for a cat to get it. Well, no luck for us to eat the rice and the chicken. I made myself an instant noodle instead and so was Aisyah. What a first sahur in AKASIA!

With the morning full of unfortunate, the evening was worst! I went out buying food to open my fast at nearly 7pm. When we got to the 'Bazar Ramadhan', it was overcrowded with hungry muslims. Everyone was trying to get food to open the fast. Not just it was over-packed with people, there were no more food left at the Bazar. Every single stall had finished selling everything they could sell (in term of food). With only 20 more minutes till the open time, we rushed to Bistro and bought Nasi Kandar. Honestly, I did not mind at all. Luckly, we got home just in time to open our fast.

As it says on my bus ticket that my departure time was at 11 in the morning, I was there waiting at the bus station at quarter to 11 after a lot of rushing. Exactly at 11, I saw a purple bus written on the side 'NICE' which I knew that it was my bus as it stated in my ticket. A lady in Transnasional uniform came up to me. After confirming that I was going to Penang, she led me the way to the bus. I was the first, so that I thought. I went up the stairs and the driver greeted me. He took my ticket and teared the part that supposed to be teared. Then, he said just get a seat. I was blurred and nervous at the same time. I went to ask my seat number on the ticket, this is our conversation:
Driver: Adik duduk jer kat mana-mana pun. (You can seat anywhere you like.)
Me: Huh?
Driver: Hari ini adik sorang jer kat sini. (Today, you are the only person here.)
Me: HUH?! Macam mana boleh macam tu pulak? Betul ke ni? (How can this be possible? Is this true?)
Driver: Bukan senang nak dapat macam ni. (It is not easy to get a chance like this.)
I gave him a faint smile and took a seat on the third row. Only God knows how I was actually shaking all over in side my soul. I would be all alone in this bus? I was the only passenger? That time I could just ask Allah for protection and hope that all is well. If anything ever happened to me, at least there were people that knew i took that bus. I was hoping that the lady would came as well but I was totally dissapointed as a man younger than the driver came instead. So, my journey from Shah Alam Seksyen 17 to Penang in the big whole massive bus with comfortable seats only occupied of three persons and I was the only female there.
At first, I was scared to do anything. There was a movie shown and no matter how I tried to concentrate on the movie but I still could not. After a while, I shifted my seat to the twin seat instead of the single seat which was right in front of the small flat screen (supposed to be the TV). I put all my belongings on the seat next to me and looked out to window most of the time. As it was my birthday, I tried to call people that using Maxis number. Time went on. Suddenly, the man came and gave me food and drinks. There were a tuna bun, small doughnut, grape juice and mineral water. I started to eat the food and even at that state, the food tasted delicious.
I was thinking of not sleeping at all as it could be dangerous. However, I accidently dozed off and I was awaken by the voice of the man saying, "Adik, adik. Kita berhenti 30 minit kat sini. (We are stopping here for 30 minutes.)" I was at Sg. Perak R&R. I was at a sleepy state took my handbag and went out of the bus. After completing my Zohor, I went to buy some fruits. I had no appetite at all when looking at the various food. I was only thinking of getting myself home and eat the world best delicious food ever cooked food by my mum. I waited for the bus driver to come and get myself back in the bus. Right after the bus moved, the man came to me asking if I wanted a hot drink and I said yes for tea.
All seemed so short, I was on the Penang bridge already! Few minutes after all the excitement that I was in Penang after two weeks away, I arrived at Vistana Hotel. The driver announced the arrival but I did not need telling. I was already ready with my belongings and after saying very honest and big thank you to the driver and the helper man, I went out of the bus. Mak came not long after that and I was back with mak. Alhamdulillah.
I thought that this could be my birthday present as it was my birthday of turning into an adult. Welcome to the adulthood!

I was excited at first,

I am terrified of being alone out there of adulthood without my parents.

My Success in SPM

Many had asked me about my secrets of success especially after they knew my results, which school I was from (such a rural school), the JPA scholarships on my education to further my studies abroad, and knew that I was awarded as one of the 266 excellence student in Penang. To answer those questions, I decided to share my truly secrets of my SPM success.

WHAT IS MY SECRET?

-WORK HARD (usaha). There is no other way. No shortcuts and easy way to achieve an excellence results. It is FULL OF HARD WORK and painful journey. It is tiring to learn all those facts and knowledges but we have to do it. Again; There is no other way. There is no such a thing as miracle and luck without His will.
-KEEP GOOD RELATIONSHIP with:
1. God (Allah)
He the one that will decide it all. No matter how hard we worked if He says No, then it will be a No to our success. We must pray and ask for His blessing so that all our work will pay off. In doing so, we must take care of His 'feelings'. We must obey His every single order then He will listen to us. Its fair right? However, Allah is much kinder than any of us, even sometimes we forgot of Him, disobeyed Him but He still listen to our prayers and give us the success. Allahu Akhbar!
2. Parents
Their blessings are very important. Make sure they bless you with everything you do. Make them happy by giving them happiness. Do you think they will be happy when you give them money or by giving them present? Of course they will, but the happiest present is by giving them the present of success. They could not be any happier than seeing their child full of success. That was what I did. Whenever I studied, I thought of this was the process of giving them the GREATEST present. Whenever I screwed up (my grades went down, not achieving my target) I would cry and felt very down because I thought that I would never give them the happiness that they deserved. By thinking of their sacrifices for me since the days before I was even born, I was determined to give them the very best of me. My principle of life is to make my parents and my family happy.
3. Teachers
A teacher is someone that comes after your parents. You need to respect them, care for them, love them as though they are your parents. In doing so, just like the case with my parents, I gave them presents, worked hard to give the presents of excellent results. I had once been a tuition teacher and I knew how it felt to be to see your students understood what you taught and they were able to answer it in exam. I was over the moon and so were my teachers when I could get As for their subjects. Who would not? Teachers here applies to all of my teachers including at school (who had taught me directly or indirectly and never taught me at all), my tuition teachers, my friends (who had taught me), my mum and whoever had taught me. When you appreciate the person who taught you, you said thank you but the real appreciation comes when you tell them that you could answer the questions in exams or exercises. Another thing is that, take care of your teachers's feelings. Even the slightest thing could hurt them in a way.
4. Family
This actually indicates your siblings, your aunts and uncles, your (great) grandparents, cousins whoever that is called relative to you. Avoid any controversy with them, try to mix with them even though you are thinking of your endless homework and your undone list of work to study. Do not be an arrogant person to them and take care of your manners as much as possible. Ask them to pray for your success because you cannot just stand alone in creating the big future of success (this also applied for parents, teachers and friends).
5. Friends
Keep a good relationships with them. Help them as much as possible if they are in need. If they forgotten you when they are happy, do not feel sad because Allah with you. Again, do not be an arrogant friend and be as humble as possible. Friends because of Allah. Mix yourself with everyone even the one at the last class because they will pray for you one day.

-MY DETERMINATION to prove to people what I am capable of. No matter what school I was assigned to I still could achieve my success because success come from yourself not everyone around you. You are alone anyway when answering the questions in the exam hall. Your friends, family and teachers can only support you from outside the hall. Its you that left to answer the questions. It is you who could decide your future. If you did well in answering the questions and achieved an A+, its for your own good anyway not the others. I had to admit that it was not easy to study in an environment of fun and relax. It is painful when you are the only one that thinking of studying while the others not. It is torture that you are the only person that study while the others play. It is sad when you are the only one that thinking of success while the others not. I stood on my own and my determination to success brought me to the me now.

WHAT ABOUT WORK SMART?

These two phrases had been a wonder to me, WORK HARD & WORK SMART. What is 'work smart' actually? I could not find the real answer but at last I made my own 'work smart'. My WORK SMART is by having a planned out and a list of things to study, list of notes to do, list of exercises to be done from different books. When you have planned everything out, you will not have a moment where you do not know where to begin on studying or what to study. The lists are in front of you (work smart) then you just need to (work hard) to get it all done as soon as possible.

HOW DO I STUDY?

To answer this question, its actually depends on the specific subject itself. However, there is one thing we cannot run in how to study, which is do LOTS AND LOTS of exercise. No matter what subjects it might be, for me, I need to do LOTS and LOTS of exercise. This is actually called a 'Repetition Method'; where you keep repeating the same things (by doing lots of questions, same type of question might be asked for several times) you will remember the answer and able to do it. What I did not like to do is MEMORISING. It gave me headache every time I tried to memorise things and I tend to feel sleepy, at last fall asleep. Thus, to avoid that I did lots of exercises, do lots with my arm by writing the answers and have a proper position when studying (on a study desk or any table with a chair to sat on). However, we could not run from memorising especially to get the A+. I did the memorising but not as much as I did my exercises (bare in mind that this is very LOTS & LOTS of exercises and LOTS of memorising).

DO I GO TO TUITION?

Yes. I did go to tuition since Form 4 till Form 5. Ok, you can not just simply said that because I went to tuition I got the excellent results. Certainly not. The prove is that my BM, History, Maths, BI (people might argue for this subject because I was in Scotland for 4 years) is A+ without tuition. Did I only depend on my school teachers? Not totally. Only part of it (about 35%) I got from my school teachers but the rest were my own HARD WORK. The other thing is that it is not guaranteed that if you go to tuition you will get good grades. The prove is my Biology, I only got an A for Bio. I went to Biology tuition since Form 4. This is actually depends on yourself. There are many people out there that went to tuition day and night but the grades are not improving nor having a more understanding on the subjects.
Tuition is for you if you need an extra help on the certain subject due to lack of understanding and so on. Tuition is not something easy as the teacher will rush the syllabus to keep up with the school's exam etc plus there are many students. If you need a tuition and go to a tuition centre; I should say you should drop it or change a new tuition place if:
i) in your tuition class you are totally blur out. Do not understand every single thing that the teacher is saying and explained.
ii) you think that you understood what the teacher was teaching but when you tried to do questions at home, you stucked and blur out again.
iii) you went to tuition and the teacher taught you this particular topic. However, it was at school that you understand that particular topic which is from your own school teacher.
iv) your tuition subjects's grades are not improving at all.
That was just my advise. It really depends on you as you know yourself the best. However, please think of your parents when you decide to go to tuition. Tuition is never cheap, the fees are so expensive but parents would certainly agree and go with your choice when you said you wanted to go to tuition. They only thought thats the best they can give you so that you succeed so do not give the same crap grades to them after attending tuition. Have a lot of pity for your parents who worked hard to pay for your tuition fees and sparing their time taking you to tuition and picking you back. Is it really worth it?
I went to tuition only for four subjects that I thought were the hardest subjects yet; Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Additional Mathematics. Alhamdulillah, after tuition I understood much better on the subjects and my grades was improving or maintain excellent every tests and exams in school. Obviously, I have my own hard worked here. Even though I went to tuition I still did the school work, concentrated in class, doing notes (sometimes, if the teacher REALLY asked for it) and do LOTS & LOTS of exercises.

WHAT IS MY TIME MANAGEMENT & DO I HAVE A TIMETABLE FOR MY STUDY?

These two questions should be answered together. To be honest, I am not a discipline kind of person (but when there are rules I would follow it such as in school etc) that could discipline myself by making up rules then I will strictly follow it. I am not that strong to follow my own rules (such a weak person). I did made my own study timetable at the start of each year but never followed it. What do you think of my time management? I study depending on my mood and my mood on the certain subjects. Basically, I study most of the time (mood to study were usually there because of my determination) but the subjects were random depending on my mood. Sometimes, I was into Add Maths for days and just kept doing Add Maths only (apart from homework). Of course, my study was guided by the lists that I made. Thus, eventually, I would stop doing Add Maths because my list of work was done.

DO I WATCH TV?

Only sometimes. I found internet better than TV to release my tension or to rest my mind. My blog has been my cure of my dark times. I am not a TV kind of person who can not take their eyes of it but an Internet kind of person. You have to control it. The addiction of something negative is very bad. Busy yourself with something else so that you will forget about your addiction. Facebook? I did not have Facebook till after SPM examination is over. Addicted to Facebook after SPM is alright because you have nothing to do anyway. Same case with whoever addicted to Korean dramas. Try forcing yourself to wait until the SPM is over and try not to think about it or get your mind involve in it for now.

DO I MAKE MISTAKES IN EXAM?

I did. Yes certainly. I hate mistakes the most. Sometimes, I even cried after making mistakes in exam because every little mistakes count and will effect my marks. Mistakes are out of our control but it is something that we can still work hard on to reduce it and keep it to the minimum. Pray to Allah; He will guide us during exam so that we will not make mistakes. I believe that I did mistakes because there was something wrong with my relationship with teachers or friends even my parents. So, before exams try to ask for their forgiveness and blessings. Do not panic and rushed through when answering the questions in exam. Try to be calm and relax. You can do so if you are fully prepared for the exam and no last minute study.

DO I STUDY LAST MINUTE?

To get an A+ or an A is never a last minute study. Even before my exams and tests at school, I avoid last minutes study. I even hate the last minute study. It is useless and bring me bad luck every time I tried it. I am not the person who study last minute and score. If I studied last minute, I will fail. SPM is not about how much you studied the week before that, its not even what you studied a month before that. It is what you studied two years before that. So, if you said you did not sleep at all the night before exam because you were doing the revision then asked why you did not get the good grades while I was sleeping nicely before exam could get good grades? Its because I did not sleep two weeks before exam because of revision not the night before.

DO I SOLAT HAJAT & FASTING?

Of course. Allah asked us to pray to Him and He will granted it. I did it regularly at least once a week or once every two weeks. I usually fast when it comes to exams week. Just something that I did. I also did puasa nazar if I niat that I will fast if I got an A+ or A or A1.

DO I HAVE A GROUP DISCUSSION?

I did. It was great during Form 4, when it came to Form 5, we were busy with our own study especially me with my tuitions classes. It did help a lot for you to understand and discuss things but then its all depends on yourself. A group discussion as a matter of fact only helps a little because its your own hard work that matters. Its great to have a group discussion and make sure you discuss not chatting.

DO I STAY UP AT NIGHT?

I am not a person who stayed up till morning to do revision or to study. At most I would stay up until 2am (cover back my sleep during the evening or on the way to school) doing homework and work that really need to be done. Only in desperate situations that I would stay up late for example, near exams or tests.

MY ANALOGY OF HARD WORK

There is a gardener who was looking for a job. He found a massive house with a massive garden. He looked for the owner of the house and asked if he could be the gardener at the house. The owner said that he could started off by cutting the grass first then he will see to it. The gardener started cutting the grass but did not do it properly. He was too lazy to do it well and perfect. After thinking that he did enough, he went to the owner. The owner was mad at his lack of interest in the work and his laziness. The owner paid a very little money to the gardener and shoved him off. The gardener regretted it and was very sad because it was not enough to feed his family. He went back to the house and asked the owner for a second chance. The owner agreed. The gardener did his very best this time. Every little details in the garden, he took great care of it. He spent ages on the garden just to make sure its perfect. He had put all his focus and concentration on it. After hours he was done with the garden. The owner was impressed and gave him a lot of money as the results of his hard work. He then could buy his family food to eat.
Now, the gardener is the student. The owner is the God. When the student was studying very little and did not work hard Allah could not grant the student with a success even though He wanted to because the student did not deserve it. However, when the student worked very very hard on studying Allah will grant the student with success. When you have your success you could further your studies and become someone useful.

BAHASA MELAYU

I started off at Form 4 without having a really good basic in BM. I could write only a Standard 5 essay in BM because that was when I left Malaysia before going to Scotland. I did not have any problem on understanding BM however unlike my brothers and sister. I did not really like BM but have to work hard on it anyway. No choice really. It was a slow progress over the two years. I never got an A1 or A+/A in BM in school tests or exam. During Form 5, my teacher asked us to copy out essays; 5 essays every week. At the start of the year, everyone was keen on it, but then it faded away. I kept on copying every week. Spending 5 hours each week just to copy it all because I took 1 hour to copy out an essay which length 4pages. My teacher also gave out lots and lots of exercises. I usually asked my mom with the exercises and did it together. I rarely written any essay even though I have to. I kept copying. I was very lazy to write in BM but Alhamdulillah, in exam I could write non-stop.

ENGLISH

Do I have an English exercise book? I had one because the teacher asked everyone to buy it. I could not take the way Malaysians learn English. I kept on maintaining my English by reading English novel and write. I wrote essays and did little exercise on the literature. I would borrow my friend's English Essay Sample book whenever I needed it. I am not really good at English, not fluent and my grammar sucks. Whenever I came across a word that I did not understand, I would try to reread the sentence again and again (I was too lazy to open up a dictionary) and make out what it might means. Learn by heart an essay then write back in exam? I did not do that. I tried during trial just to be sure that I would get an A+ in English. However, I regretted it so much because I just could not cheat myself. I ended up screwed up my Paper 1 English for trial. Alhamdulillah, I realised my mistakes before the real SPM examination. There are other people who succeed in memorising an essay but it depends on yourself really.

MATHEMATICS

From the start of Form 4, I felt Maths is one of the easy subjects compared to others. I scored Maths very well during test and exams by achieving 100% twice and the highest for many times. My Maths marks were down a bit during Form 5 because I was trying and more focus on Add Maths. Maths has been my favourite subject and I love doing exercises on it. I had much problem on the PMR questions and had to do lots of exercise on it. Thanks to my maths teacher who never gave up on me, I love Maths.

HISTORY

I found History very boring during Form 4 and very lazy to study History except when the exam was around the corner. However during form 5, I did a paradigm shift on History. I covered back all the form 4's notes and studied really hard on History. It was because I heard that History must A+ if you want to go abroad. After understand the story on the topics, I did lots* of exercises on it. When SPM is near, I started to take the marking scheme and memorise it by heart (for essay questions) plus all the copying of the answers. Make sure you have Form 4 & Form 5 textbooks with you at all times (haha). For objective questions, refer for the answers in the textbooks. If you find reading the textbook is boring and can bring you to sleep(like me) then do the repetition method. By doing the questions and referring it back at the textbook you will eventually read back the textbook.
*For paper 1 (objective questions), I did hundreds of questions. For paper 2 (subjective and essays) a bit less than paper 1.

PENDIDIKAN ISLAM

Love the subjects but never really know how to score it. I was not good at it and really having problems on understanding it and memorising it. I did notes for this subjects and rely on my notes till the very end of SPM. I did not do as much exercises on this subject compared to other subjects and ended up getting an A only (padan muka). There is no other way for this subject except for memorising (Sorry to say).

ADDITIONAL MATHEMATICS

Hate this subject at first because I could not understand it. It is damned difficult! However, I did not just give up. I have worked extremely hard on this subject; triple hard than any other subjects just to be able to do it. It was not until Form 5 that I started to like Add Maths and accepted it in my life. Thanks to my tuition teacher, I actually got A+ for Add Maths and never in the world that I thought I could achieved it. I did nothing much really for Add Maths (no notes or memorising) but THOUSANDS of questions (not just hundreds). Keep on doing the exercises lots and lots of it. It is actually like a game. If you lose in a game, you would start it all over again and tried again till you win at last. That is what Add Maths is all about. Never give up on it! If you really need help, FIND HELP. There are people that can helped you which are so called teachers and friends. Do not wait till the last minutes because Add Maths is not a last minutes thing. Trust me!

CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS, BIOLOGY

These three subjects almost made me a crazy person, honestly. Its like mad studying these 3 subjects. However, these three subjects are the one I love most (the least is Physics out of three). You need to understand the topics then do lots of questions on it. I know that even to understand it, its hard, but believe me, to answer the questions are much harder. These three subjects required me to study (like crazy) till I could swore that I really study like a mad person. Discuss with friends, teach them and do lots of exercises. Immediately seek help when needed because never postponed things to the last minutes for these three subjects (same with Add Maths).

SPM 2010 Best Students Award Penang State Level

266 students were awarded with a certificate and an amount of money as a sign of appreciation due to their excellence results in SPM 2010. Guess what? I was one of the 266 students.

The chief minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng himself gave the awards to each and everyone of us.

Basically, there are 3 categories for this award.

1st Category: Straight A+ only (only 25 students in Penang and very very few were Malays)

2nd Category: Straight A+ and A only (Here I am)

3rd Category: Straight 10(A+/A) and A- only.

What really surprised me most was that my school was the only school from 'normal' school not just the only student from a rural school. Other students were from all those famous academic excellence schools in Penang such as SMJK Chung Ling, SMKA Al-Irshad, SMJK (P) China, SMJK (P) Methodist, SMK (P) St. George, SMK Convent Butterworth, SMK Convent Green Lane, SMK Bukit Jambul, SMK St. Xavier, SMK Convent Bukit Mertajam, SMK Penang Free and much more.

My seat number and my table was already organised. My table is the letter 'V'. The table with the letter 'A'-'C' were for the straight A+ students. I was the only Malay student in my table group. It was awkward at first but the other students were kind and very understanding. They talked in English even to each other in respecting me. We had a little chat and I found out that they studied hard too to get the excellence results. There is no other way to success actually, really.

The gentlemen were all from SMK St. Xavier and the lady beside me was from SMK Bukit Mertajam. Our A+ range from 7A+ - 10 A+.

SPM RESULTS

A few days before my results day...

Bismillah.... HambaMU ini yang kerdil lagi lemah memohon ketenangan dan keredaanMU. Sesungguhnya, keputusanku sudah tertulis dan tercatat di atas sekeping kertas. Dan juga, sesungguhnya, tuhanku, ALLAH; Ya Rahman, Ya Rahim, Ya Karim, mengetahui, berkuasa terhadap hambanya. Dan sesungguhnya aku berserah kepadaMU, wahai Maha Pencipta. Aku memohon kekuatan di kala menanti saat keluarnya keputusan itu nanti, di kala aku cuba menerimanya dengan seadanya dan redha dengan ketentuanMU. Ya Allah, aku tidak akan menyesal di atas usaha ku kerana aku telah berusaha sedaya mungkin. Namun, Ya Allah, aku lalai, aku alpa, aku leka, daripada meraih kasih sayang dan keredhaanMU. Moga-moga dengan keputusanku nanti, aku mampu melangkah, terus berjuang untuk akhirat dan berpegang bahawa dunia ini hanya sementara. Mampukah aku pergi ke UIA? Ya Allah, permudahkan perjalannanku ke sana nanti. Naluriku berdetus bahawa results ku hanya sederhana. Targetku tidak kecapaian. Aku pernah menyoal, mampukah aku menanggung malu dengan ego di tahap yang tinggi sebegini? Aku tidak mampu lari daripada orang ramai selama-lamanya. Lambat laun orang akan tahu juga. Redha dan semestinya disebalik setiap kejadian, pasti ada hikmahnya, Allah Yang Maha Mengetahui. Ya Allah, ampunilah dosa-dosaku wahai Maha Pengampun dan Maha Penyayang. Berilah kekuatan juga kepada hamba-hambaMu yang mengharap kecemerlangan daripada insan yang serba kurang ini. Moga-moga mereka redha dengan keputusanku nanti, sesungguhnya sedikit pun ku tidak mahu mereka kecewa terhadapku. Mohon ampun.

I was really down most of the time, especially the day before the results day. A friend of mine sent me a message which lifted me up a bit. Bring me back to reality and blew me strength to continue move on. Terima kasih tidak terhingga.

"Rileks la.. kita dah bertawakal. Kita mintak Allah bagi yang terbaik buat kita. Kita dah usaha.. Mana yang kita dapat, itu selayaknya buat kita. Allah mengetahui segalanya... Ingat firman Allah... 'Sesungguhnya ada yang kita suka itu tidak baik buat kita, dan ada yang kita benci itu adalah yang terbaik buat kita... tapi Allahlah sebaik-baik penentu segalanya.' Yakin pada Allah, InsyaAllah, Allah bagi yang terbaik"

A few minutes before the results were announced, I felt that I could not become strong enough. I remembered what students at ISLAH always do when time like this. They would shout, Takbir, ALLAHU AKBAR. Thats what I did and it really gained my strength totally. I felt that Allah was with me all the way.

The very moment that the results were announced, I listened and concentrated. When I heard that my name was called as top student, I turned my head to my friend beside me, just for confirmation. No tears came out no reaction nor emotion. I was shock. Very shock and surprised.

"Pelajar terbaik Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Telok Kumbar yang mendapat Straight A, iaitu puteri kita, Nur Izzati Bt Shahabuddin dengan mendapat keputusan 7A+ dan 2A."

I stood up and walked to the front of the hall. My dad was waiting with teary eyes. I saw it. My dream and wish came true. I saw the tears of happiness from my parents due to my success. Just like they did when my brother and sister gave the same present to them, success. Then tears flew though I tried my best to be strong. The very moment the results slip changed hand, I quickly looked to confirm myself that this is no mistake.

A Letter to Bukhari

I wrote something sort of like a letter to my tuition teacher, Bukhari at Mualimah Room, Sekolah Menengah Al-Islah, Sungai Petani. I did not actually intended to give him the letter. Just a piece of my thought.

Dear my teacher; Bukhari,

How are you now? I hope you are doing as wonderful as before. How are your health condition? Hope you are doing much better this year for your students.

I went out from home to find out more about life and gaining valuable experiences. This is the first time I am away from home for such a long time. However, it was not as thrilling as I have my sister by my side 24/7. I went to her school, Sekolah Menengah Al-Islah, Sungai Petani as a volunteer. I expected them to give me any typing work, tidying up and more. Unfortunately, I was totally wrong because no one gave me any work of that such. It is more of me being here learning from looking and trying to be in it.

Sir, do you know? When I was told that I can come here in this very special school, I was very excited. I felt that my boring, lifeless and clueless life has come to an end. There was no doubt in me for coming here. I left my world which is my home, my room and internet with ease. When I came here, I was overjoyed. I learnt so much from the very day I step my foot here.

Sir Bukhari, now I am a teacher. Almost officially a tuition teacher here. I taught form 4 basically. I do not care about money more than you do. HAHA. It is for free. You had been my inspiration in teaching especially for additional mathematics. Now I can do add maths thanks to you.

Sir, SPM results is coming out soon. I wondered what I would get for my SPM. What if I got a B for add maths, physics, or chemistry? Will you forgive me and not feel disappointed in me? Of course you would be very disappointed. Can I face you again if I really screwed up? Can I continue teaching and feel the pleasure of it? Is my emotionally involved was a mistake? I avoided thinking about my results just because of these questions kept popping out from my mind. It is too painful even just by thinking of it, so, I always kept it behind my mind buried it deep. However, no matter what I will get for my SPM results, I will visit you for sure. I promise I will visit you.

To be honest, every time I was teaching, I remembered you, your class and your way of teaching. I remembered myself seating on my seat at your class and concentrating at your teaching. I tried my best to copy what you were doing , yet, a three weeks experiences is nothing compare to 25 years of experiences. I will try harder and much harder in order to make my beloved students understand. I will try much harder to overcome the tiredness of teaching and will keep going till they fully understand.

I will end my letter to you here. Till we meet again on the next page. Please forgive me if I have made any mistakes to you in whatever way.

Missing The School Days

It’s only in the month of February;
But I already started to miss school.
The greatness when wearing the uniform,
The hatred when I have to wake up real early,
The amount of work to be done,
The pack schedule of tuitions and extra classes,
The scariness when answering difficult questions,
The pleasure when learning something new,
And the happiness with friends and teachers.
I’m missing it all!
